The Neighbourhood Development Partnership Grant’s goal is to eradicate spatial inequality towards the creation and development of more inclusive, liveable, sustainable urban built environment, resilient, productive, efficient, and integrated metros, towns, intermediate cities and rural towns (rural regional service centres).

The NDPG’s purpose is:

    • To plan, catalyse, and invest in targeted locations to attract and sustain third party capital investments aimed at spatial transformation that will improve the quality of life, and access to opportunities for residents in South Africa’s targeted locations, under-served neighbourhoods, townships, intermediate and rural municipalities.
    • To support the targeted municipalities to develop a pipeline of investment ready capital programmes and projects through establishing and institutionalising an effective and efficient system of programme and project preparation as well as facilitate long term programmes/ projects that will attract private investment and assist non-metro municipalities to enhance revenues.

The NDPG will be administered through the following components, namely:

    • Neighbourhood Development Partnership component
    • Programme and Project Preparation component (for some intermediate cities).
